Low-sodium diet: BENEFITS, FOOD LISTS, AND MORE

Believe it or not, sodium plays a vital role in keeping your body balanced. It has two main roles: to maintain the balance of water in and around your cells and to regulate blood pressure. Even though sodium has such critical roles, the amount of sodium needed to perform these duties is much less than you would expect. The recommended daily intake is no more than 2,300 mg according to the American Heart Association. That’s the same amount of sodium that’s in a single teaspoon of table salt!

A diet high in sodium can lead to increased blood pressure due to the body holding onto more fluids. High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, can lead to many health conditions such as heart disease and stroke.

Find out how a low sodium diet might help you by reading this article.

Why mr. spice?

So, what does this have to do with a sauce and marinade company? Well, we’re glad you asked! Our philosophy here at Mr. Spice is simple: no one should have to sacrifice great taste in order to stay healthy - even those on restricted diets.

One of the most common problems to sticking with a low sodium diet is a basic one - the lack of flavor. This can be a very discouraging factor for people who have not worried about salt intake for a majority of their life. Most people don’t realize just how much sodium is in everyday food products, the American average is over 3,400 mg of sodium per day! We’re proud to provide much needed flavor to those who feel that their diet lacks it, and we hope that it makes staying on their diet much easier.

On top of that, Mr. Spice has many more great benefits to your health that you can learn by clicking the button below!
